Pros

The hands-on work is great. Because there's no formal training, you're usually left to figure things out by yourself and this has helped me learn a lot. There are also many people that are happy to help and everyone is friendly. Work-life balance is great, too.

Cons

There's hardly any structure. And they actually brag about not having structure and don't realise how many people are unhappy about that. Nobody feels comfortable speaking to management but they're so detached that they would disagree. They preach that you can create your own position, but they constantly give the good work to favourable employees. On top of that, the whole time I've been here, they've only hired a "Key Account Director" for leadership, and one of the two team leaders quit, and they didn't bother to fill his position. I know 4 to 5 people that are just trying to get the experience so they can get out. Reviews and One-on-One's are almost always pushed off or late. Again, they don't realise how many people actually care about this and how it's disrespectful.

Thanks for your review and I'm sorry to hear your opinion. As you know, we are announcing a formal training program this week, as well as structural, role and client changes. This has been in development since the HR project we undertook to better-understand how we can improve. The training program will focus on skills we've identified are lacking in the team, although we still very much believe in the value of shared knowledge, self-learning and 'test and learn'. The highly-skilled team and strong client results is a testament to this. We pride ourselves on a thin model where each employee is empowered to be autonomous and have direct access to clients and hands-on work. We think this is advantageous for everyone over a complex hierarchical structure. We've received feedback on this from the HR project, however, and are announcing clearer levels of seniority. Staff are selected to work on clients based on their suitability, skills, leadership and capacity. We are developing leaders that are engaged and value-aligned in the business, as well as bringing in Senior hires. Between the business partners and the Director, we now have 3x business leaders to 21 staff, which we find a healthy ratio.
