Pros

Admittedly the product is interesting and has potential if developed properly and comprehensively, with extensive research to back it up.

Cons

The founders seem to suffer from some sort of messianic complex. Acting as 'intellectual prophets' sent to change the world through your standard off-the-shelf brand of capitalism. There have been numerous instances where in company-wide meetings they explicitly stated that it was "a privilege to work for them" and implying that we should be honored to be under their tutelage. Or, experiencing an egotistical response when questioning of a few items, and that we must be too simpleminded to understand an improperly worded definition. They claim to be open to feedback, committed to helping and as presenting a culture of inclusivity. However, with zero open lines of communication, zero benchmarks for measuring success, zero feedback processes in place, and providing zero support or educational pathways to address their decisions, actions speak louder than words. They also seem to have a habit of changing the requirements for the role months after the employee has started and making split-second decisions that have gross impacts on the lives of the team members.

Solsten Response

At the time this review was written, this employee had already been exited from the company for reasons that cannot be disclosed here. Our goal as a company is to elevate the human experience. We’re a startup which means that we haven’t achieved our vision just yet (but we’re well on our way). From clinical trials to improving gaming experiences- we’re laser focused on making digital experiences healthier for people. As someone who was part of the meeting this former employee is referring to, one of our founders stated that they “felt privileged to be here” (meaning at Solsten and working with us). This was stated in a very clear manner that was clear to everyone else on the call as stated differently would have been out of character. Here at Solsten, we pride ourselves the team that makes up the company. We have an amazing team of passion-driven individuals with vast knowledge in their areas of discipline. It’s easy to be humbled by our colleagues and what they bring to the table. We encourage candidates to take a proactive approach to talk to anyone on the Solsten team, ask questions, including what the founders of Solsten are like and what it’s like to work here to formulate their own opinion.

Pros

I left the company on my own terms and got out before being unfairly terminated for a mistake I did not even get the chance to make.

Cons

- Constant anxiety and fear throughout the entire time working here - Management casually lays off employees as if it means nothing - Even minor mistake can put employees at risk of being targeted - Employees can quickly end up on the next wave of firings - The environment is unstable, unpredictable, and intimidating - There is no real sense of job security at any time
