Pros
1 year ago the pros list would have out weighed the cons but now sadly off the top of my head, the only pro I can come up with is their friendly co-workers.
Cons
Promotions go to people who push quantity over quality which does not lead to a good customer experience. work-life balance is poor at best, if you have a family you like to see, this is likely not the best place for you to work. Benefits plan is subpar. Compensation is very poor once you leave the San Mateo headquarters, employees in Las Vegas are making far less than those in San Mateo and putting in longer harder hours. Under the direction of the VP in Las Vegas that came from sales, SolarCity has become a numbers company. Employees seem to just be a number now and they are expected to put out a massive amount of work to keep the "metrics" high. Fast work, fast install, fast fast fast all to make the numbers look good will lead to the sun setting on SolarCity because in the end quantity will NEVER trump quality. Other little nit picking type things would be the dress code in Las Vegas. UPS, a fortune 500 company, wears shorts BUT SolarCity Las Vegas can only wear shorts on a Friday. A city where the average daily temp is 100+ in the summer and an office that is not open to the public is forced to dress like they deal with customers face to face each day. Holidays are becoming a thing of the past due to once again the work-life balance and the fact that the Las Vegas office is being run by a former sales manager who thinks like a sale rep and not a VP and does not understand most of the processes each department she controls handle on a day to day basis.
