Eh...Don't believe the hype - Sales SolarCity Employee Review

Pros

Some qualified leads Company laptop Managers are very passionate Great co-workers

Cons

Don't believe these reviews on here. Most of them are written by the HR department. If you want a real sense sort the reviews by lowest first and that will give you a realistic sense of what this place is like. When you start they will make grandiose promises of how much money you'll make and how you're doing the environment a solid. What they don't tell you is that scheduling is a nightmare (you'll never have an install crew show up on time or even the right day sometimes), install problems are rampant (holes left in roofs), you'll be required to attend webinars that solely exist to brainwash you into serving the company even further (every single one the owner would tear up and then pull himself together, almost like clockwork!), the purchase price and even recently the lease price are so overpriced compared to the competition who offer a superior product at the same time. Yelp reviews will be mentioned constantly by prospective customers.

Pros

Just to quantify my review a bit, I am within the top 10% of inside sales reps within our 12,000 person company. It is a great place to work and people doing well ARE able to make good money here. The executive team ALWAYS has a platform for reps to help make SolarCity a better place every quarter. They involve the top 20 reps each quarter in various ways to help their peers through an interactive group called Team Elite. Executives, VP's, Directors, and Managers are always willing to help and go to bat when there are issues with things that need to be fixed. The direction of the company is consistent and although the company is large, decision makers work as hard as possible to steer the big ship quickly when necessary.

Cons

Knee jerk reactions with decision making at a director level create issues from time to time. Culture has had its ups and downs due to HUGE growth last year and subsequent high attrition rates.
