Pros
I've been with the company for many years, and have seen a steady decline in both culture, and pay. They aim to be within "65% of the average pay for your position" (or so), but they fail to include non-salary compensation (such as stock options, bonuses, and other forms of compensation) common at other tech companies). This results in a severe underpaying of talent, making it increasingly difficult to hire, and retain smart people. We are increasingly hiring 'second-tier' talent, which is good for 'maintenance mode', but not great for 'best in class tech'. In regards to the culture, this used to be a 'photography company run by photographers'. Unfortunately, 'middle management bloat' has firmly taken hold, and the two owners (Don, and Ben) are seemingly not passionate about the core product (despite talking a good game). If you enjoy California buzzword speak, then you'll love their speeches. They're mainly concerned (it would seem) about fostering a good external image (touting their "Evergreen" status, whatever that really means). We've seen a lot of good people go the past year. If you're in the 'inner circle', you probably love it - because you're listened to, even if your ideas are stagnant. If you love a fancy job title that has no real responsibility, this is also the place for you. If you want to develop within your career, built real wealth over time, and feel appreciated - look elsewhere.
Cons
There's an overwhelming sense that lack of profitability is starting to have a real impact on both pay, and benefits. Recently switched to a new healthcare plan (United Healthcare) which has substantially higher out of pocket costs than the previous plan (Blue Shield). Raises are anaemic, not keeping pace with inflation.
