Pros

Smart Data is an agile-focused consultancy that works across a variety of tech stacks - there are many opportunities to learn and grow with new technologies and frameworks, which can be challenging but rewarding. Much of the work is done with projects on in-house teams, so you can get a core group of coworkers to bond with, instead of being a lone wolf shifting from client site to client site. Smart Data strongly pushed for a 40 hour work week for their employees, so evening and weekend crunch time was minimal to nonexistent - there was a good work-life balance. Smart Data has a very close knit culture that was great to be a part of - We had frequent group activities, and Smart Data was very accommodating to allowing employees to use the facilities for game nights and LAN parties. Smart Data was active in providing opportunities for public speaking at tech talks, and has monthly lunch and learn talks with catered lunches. Management was always willing to talk and discuss any ideas or concerns.

Cons

While most clients were decent, there were some difficult ones who would push against software development and agile best practices.

Pros

Everyone at SDS is very transparent and open to new ideas, They have made a lot of changes in the last two years for the better. I like being part of a team empowered and trusted to do the right thing for the customer. I've learned a lot in the last two year and have grown more than I have in the previous five years. The work-life balance is the best I've had I rarely work over 40 hours in a week.

Cons

The organization is mostly flat so knowing who to go to for HR stuff, and to fix a laptop issue can take longer than it should. Its all project work, so you tend to work on two or three different projects each year,
