Pros

My experience at ShopRunner was awesome. I understand that there are a number of less favorable reviews here, but I can honestly say my experience was only positive. As they navigate a rapidly changing industry, they are continuously trying to evolve and adapt their product offering. ShopRunner provides meals every week, a stocked snack room, brand new offices, great software for internal task management/HR, extremely transparent leadership… the list goes on. I experienced no barrier to executives and had a great relationship with my manager that will last beyond my term here. Caring for people is core to ShopRunner values. In my professional experience I've never seen a group of leaders more focused on trying to understand the voice of employees than I have here. No work place is absolutely perfect, but the open forums we use for all hands and the surveys that are sent monthly are all an effort to understand how people feel. This is so they can grow and improve. These are benefits that are not available everywhere you will work in your career! Monthly Q&A with your CEO is not a normal thing! There is not a person in the c-suite here that has not listened to me when I had a question or an idea. I would recommend working at ShopRunner to anyone who asked me. There are some reviews on glassdoor that reflect a different experience than I had, so I want to call out these few things: - Executives being unavailable is normal. They are extremely busy, in demand, and in larger orgs team members might never meet them at all. I did not work at HQ and my engagement with the executives was high. - Retail is a complicated space to disrupt. A lot of the frustrated reviews regarding strategy change have been addressed in over 1 year of all hands meetings. I believe the strategy changes have been communicated clearly and often.

Cons

The technology teams seem disjointed. It is hard to understand how their organization is arranged and where responsibilities fall. Customer facing teams need a louder voice on what product builds and goes to market with.

Pros

1.) The San Mateo, CA office is top-notch. Great location, with easy walking distance to tons of restaurants for lunch and post-work happy hours. 2.) Great group of people. Everyone working here seems 100% committed to producing a great product, and coworkers are always challenging you to be your best. 3.) Great work/life balance. Generally speaking, there aren't a ton of late nights or early bird meetings. Management understands we all have lives, because they do too! With such a shallow company, everyone from the CEO on down is on a first-name basis with one another.

Cons

1.) Although the office space is great, the building is a tad dated. The elevators are extremely slow, and it seems like there are always repairs happening on the dishwasher/AC/elevators/etc. Not necessarily a "ShopRunner" problem, but it definitely makes a difference in the day-to-day. 2.) No real feeling of company culture. It feels as though this is getting better, with increased company-wide meetings and more frequent happy hours but there is still a long way to go. A common mission statement would be nice. 3.) There is no sick-day policy, just a combined PTO policy. We have a very open-air office, and when someone comes in sick because they have a vacation coming up and can't afford to take a day to stay home, that affects the whole office.
