Pros
Many managers are young and want to motivate workers and keep things fun, so expect many drinking sessions, offsites, team bonding activities etc, although not sure how much the recent layoffs will impact this.
Cons
Morale at ShopBack is an at all-time-low, due to multiple reasons that may not be understood by senior leadership: 1. Excessively political work environment, especially among upper management, which affects those at lower levels (e.g. most recent dispute between 2 influential individuals at an offsite event) 2. Perceived inappropriate closeness between male bosses and female direct reports, leading to discomfort among many and even prompted resignations 3. Management team lacks cohesive vision and strategic direction. Marketing resources are often misallocated to projects for show (do it for optics is most managers’ favourite word here), rather than to meet KPIs and goals effectively 4. Promotion decisions seem to reward sycophancy over competence, neglecting capable employees who don't engage in such behaviour. I have personally witnessed many capable people who have left because they couldn’t stand such behaviour.
