Pros

none, none, none, none, none

Cons

I was hired by a manager who left after my three months' working and the new manager arranged a doctor appointment for me to be examined without my consent to determine igf I could lift 50, 65, and 100 pounds. I was not allowed to have my own doctor examine me, one who did know my medical history tha past seven years. The doctor explainied that he did not understand why Sherwin sept sending their employees to him to be examined. I was sent there after three months of working and it was determined that in no way could I lft 50, 65, and 100 pounds. I weighed 100 pounds which the former manager knew wvibout and she modified my job so that I would not have to do the extreme leavy lifting. As a faux finish paintier with over twenty years ofo experiene in interiotr design, the former manager hired me for my artistic color expertise and wanted to put me in the color adviisory aspect of the store to assist do-it-yourself customers, butt when she left and the new manager arrived, he then, as stated, had the doctor examine me. Of course, the doctor knew that I could in no way lift 50, 65 and 100 pounds and called me afer the exam asking my persmisison to inform the new manager. I then was rather surpriseid that two persons from the Sherwin HR appeared to talk with me, unbeknownst to me. They had informed me that no furthwer accommodations would be in order for me, as, the way they saw it, I had had already three months' of accommodation which could not be extended. They ga e me 29 days before being discharged and then an absurd gratis an added 29 days as, what they termed, " an unpaid leave of absense without pay." I was told by the new manager and his assistant that I would now work days instead of nights and weekends to shadow them as to working the computer and making sales. Before this time, I was not allowed to use the computer nor recommend productgs. My job consisted of tinting, vacuuming, sweeping and mopping the floor, and tearing shipment boxes open and socking shelves. I was to have taken approximately 100 tests also, but only was able to complete about 10 as I was needed daily to do the repetitive manual labor. I have no doubt that th company wanted me to resign due to my age and size. I had a lack of respect and was ignored mostly by the managers who were supposed to have trained me months ago but who did not have time to do so. I have a completely negative summary of working for this company and think that the 29 day periods were a mere appeasement to keep me from immediately applying for unemployment.. Absolutely, I would not recommend this company to anyone who desires full training and respect on the job. My job description had been modified by the original manager whow hired me but nothing came to fruition once the new manager came and his assisitant did nothing to apprise him about the original conditions for which I had been hired. A very uncaring, manipulative, hypocritical company for which to work. Stay away.

Pros

A positive work environment. The best co-workers I have had so far in my career worked with me at Sherwin. I also worked under an amazing management team. There is a lot of room for career growth. I worked for Sherwin for about 3.5 years. I started as a contracted lab technician, then I was hired full time as an R&D Associate Chemist. I quickly worked my way up to R&D Chemist within a year of being hired full time. The department I worked in was very fast paced, however, I know there are many other groups that move at a much slower pace with longer timelines. This would make it much easier to manage the workload.

Cons

Working with marketing was challenging at times. We would regularly receive big requests a day before they needed something. This would pose a challenge when you had other priorities to attend to. The pay was average. I do think it could have been slightly higher for all of the job responsibilities given to the chemists in my group specifically. The workload was overwhelming at times.
