Pros

HealthCare, PTO, Paid Holidays...that is about it.

Where to start there are so many cons: I have read some of the other reviews on here and there is some truth in more than one. I try not to write reviews because I think that opinions are subjective and that there are two sides to every story, but I do believe in speaking the truth and living by integrity and Shea Property Management lacks both in many respects. It's people lack the ability to do what is right verses doing things because it's the norm or they have tenure with in the organization to do what they want. Their are alliances within the corporate/field structure that create a grey line when it comes to business decisions. I have never been so disappointed in a career position for myself and for the people who they supposedly say are the reason they are in business. Residents of apartments and home owners. Shea looks like a golden egg on the outside, but on the inside they are a small time company that cannot get their act together. From class action lawsuits from home owners to lawsuits from their own employees; (It's all public information, all you have to do it google Shea/Lawsuits) to their outdated software system they recently upgraded within the last year to finally coming out of the stone ages of Time Keeping on Excel Spread Sheet (Yes, time keeping was Faxed weekly) to ADP....they are a far cry from a professional company!! They are cheap when it comes to everything is what I have come to realize. They are the only company that I have ever worked for that has an addendam stateing : "You waive your rights to a Class Action Lawsuits" They did have an addendam for drugs and that nature, but through certain events and afraid of being sued they added it to the actual Lease. But in the mean time they are making these changes, us as employees go through to put it nicely "Hell" because are hands are tied behind our backs, we can't speak of anything when we are being yelled at by residents and others because of issues. So that is one issue, they lack the forsite to really look at the business in every detail with a microscope before putting the finishing product out there. Another issue is there on boarding. It sucks to put it plainly. If you don't have industry experience, you better hope you can swim. It is all a hot mess. Classes are taken at random and some you don't take weeks untill after you've started (software training for example) There is no rhyme or reason. You have to be a strong person and have people around you that are going to dig in and help you in the first weeks at what ever location you are in. They do have a "trainer" you are assigned to, but that trainer can't be there all the time. It can be hard if everything is brand new. Lucky for me, I had experience. Next, they introduced a new leasing system, suppose to make things better for everyone. No, far from it. It was the worst launch of anything new I have ever encountered in my 15 something years of professional experience. We were constantly going back and forth from the old leasing system (Paper applications haha) to the new online leasing because the new one was a disaster. Site would freeze, it would work for the primary, but not the roommate, issues with taking payment, links not working and the list goes on and on. The work days were sometimes painfull, not for me, but for the prosepective residents that had so many issues. It would sometimes take twice as long. As the time went by, things got a little better, but not fast enough. Again painful. The worst of all the crimes is seeing good people, residents being discrimanated against, not intentionally in small ways, but if you weren't on managements good side forget getting anyone at corporate level to listen. Again alliances. Lease renewals, I know for a fact that some people when they asked for lower lease renewal amount, management would get an approval, but would flat out say no to others and not blink an eye, wouldn't even try to ask. But as an employee, I would say "I'm sorry, we weren't able to get an approval to have the renewal lowered" ; when just days before it would be granted for someone else. That killed me, that I couldn't say anything because bound by loyalty to my employer, and spouting lies from my mouth. I felt like a fake, and at some point you ask yourself is this worth my being? People taking advantage of their position and playing God because they can. Now, is the whole company a scam, are all the people no good? No. I meet some really nice people, hard working people that have been there for years and love the company with all their heart. But sometimes people can get blinded by what they think is right and get comfortable in thier space and don't see the dirt in the cracks because they need that microscope but don't have it. Others see the problems, but don't find the strength to rock the boat. Nor do they want to. I take everything as a learning experience, this is certianly one of them. Some said on another review that Shea was the new "Irvine Company" , true. From it's people, to business practices, to training, to principals. It's almost become machine like (again depending on who you work with) ,cut throat, profit first, cost last. I feel sorry for my former boss, hides behind her own lies and displays them outwardly to those around her. Taking no responsibility for anything, even if it was in her face. At the end of the day we have to answer to ourselves and ask the question did I act with Integrity and Honestly. Treat people with respect. I knew a couple of really nice, awesome employees, but Shea drove them away . If you don't go with the flow, then you are an outcast, there is no room to be your own, think on your own, or be different....

Pros

-The company and property culture. -Daily Positivty -Support In Our Roles -Kind, Generous and Forigiving We are more than just a number on a payroll list. They treat us like human beings.

Cons

They won’t hire you back if you need to leave for a family emergency. I believe if you leave on good terms and really helped the company grow they should allow you to re apply should you move back to the area.

There are some good people there (for now)

Upper management does not care about you No sick time No Work life balance No performance raises They would rather be understaffed and overworked than hire full team
