Pros

People are happy to be there, or just happy. There are no dead plants! a great deal of freedom choosing what projects I worked on mentored one undergraduate intern each summer

Cons

Low salary relative to industry Budgets very tight, have to make do. Must write proposals / bring in enough money to pay myself. This can be very difficult when the economy is bad. Occasionally have to kiss butt of wealthy donors. But that is also a pro because you sometimes meet famous people.

Pros

Really nice people, smart, focused and aligned with the mission. Tenure at the Institute is between 5-40 years which shows great employee legacy.

Cons

Continuing to the build the culture in a non-profit is an ever moving target. We will get there.

Pros

The HR Director, Armine Saroian is an amazing individual. She is the heartbeat of the SETI Institute. My time at SETI was significantly improved by her guidance and professionalism.

Cons

The glass ceiling is real.
