Pros
SelectQuote has a very Silicon Valley feel to it. Beautiful offices, excellent food trucks, Amy Spellman the office manager is wonderful at keeping the culture inclusive and fun. There are some amazingly bright people here in IT.
Cons
SelectQuote has a very Silicon Valley feel to it. IT frequently requires heroics, which a mature organization should avoid. You end up burning out your heroes and no one learns anything. Additionally, SQ truly needed to evolve from a start-up quick-draw mentality to an enterprise-focused model, especially in light of being publicly traded. It is one thing to be agile with IT efforts, it is an entirely different thing to have consistent, mature, and resilient architectures and a supportable operational model vs best-effort. Additionally, the current IT regime change has seemingly occurred with a great deal of nepotism rather than merit-based hires. These new execs and directors hand down edicts from on high, rather than driving a common vision to encourage buy-in from the technical folks. Salaries are facing downward pressure as well, and I'm afraid that SQ was a place with so much potential, but is going to end up being an IT talent meat grinder.
