I worked at SRA for about a year. I really liked my team and coworkers, and I really liked my job. I was on track for a raise and promotion to work under my boss' boss pending the completion of agreed upon projects and good performance. The projects had been completed. I had lunch with my boss' boss and he agreed it was time to talk about the raise and promotion. We got into what that position would look like along with my next trajectory. The following monday I came into the office and I was fired by HR that morning. HR said someone had complained about me and wouldn't say about what or offer further explanation. This was by far the most devastating betrayal I've experienced in my 11 year professional career. It affected me emotionally, mentally, and my ability to pay my bills. The company emphasis on community and being the cool employer seems tremendously sinister in hindsight. The owners are not your friends. These people will get rid of you if they determine you are no longer necessary. Maybe if you're one of the owners' church friends you'll be ok. It feels terrible to have your passion for an industry soured because of a bad experience. I never found out what happened or why.
