Pros

The benefits and commission is okay.

Cons

-A revolving door of new hires due to poor training. -Hire unsustainably then lay people off. -Employees dismissed with no prior warnings or commission paid (check your contract). -Reprimanded for not working overtime without pay. -Cronyism colours senior management decisions. -Making use of benefits is discouraged. Expected to work on bank holidays etc. -Drinking and vaping (and more) in the office and at work events is normalized. -Trainee recruiters are routinely scapegoated for managers failings.

I’m sorry to hear that you felt your experience during your time here wasn’t positive. We are committed to delivering a positive experience to all employees and take all feedback very seriously. I would have to disagree that we have a revolving door of new hires, in fact our retention levels are much higher than the industry average and is something we work particularly hard at ensuring success in what can be a very difficult industry. We have a dedicated training campus, systems training and regular management training to help our people achieve success. We do everything to help our people be a success here, but as recruitment is a sales driven industry there are instances where employees who consistently underperform sadly cannot continue in this role despite everyone’s best efforts. We incentivise our recruiters well with a very favourable commission scheme, however due to rebate periods often extended by our consultants with our clients, we explicitly state both in person & clearly within the contract on several occasions that commission is withheld post end date in the event of an employee departing as we are often liable for replacing candidates or returning monies should the placement not be fulfilled as agreed. We will always honour commission that falls due within employment dates & will also look for a fair resolution for both parties should commission fall due just outside of this period. I’m sorry to hear you felt that not working overtime put you at a disadvantage. We of course do not force employees to work earlier / later than their contract states but we know that the most successful recruiters here flex in order to speak to candidates who aren’t contactable during working hours, which is why we make it possible for those who want to to work later to do so. Everyone at Searchabiliy of course gets their bank holidays, plus an extra holiday on top over Xmas plus up to 3 extra days through our #FeelSound initiative on top of an already above average 23 days annual leave rising to 25 as standard. If you work on the US team out of UK, you have the option to take US bank holidays instead of UK - again not mandatory in interests of allowing for a work / life balance in the UK. This flexibility combined with a compressed 4 day working week for the US team does not allow for us to honour both countries bank holidays for obvious reasons as discussed on several occasions. The US do by default get extra bank holiday allowance than the UK if our consultants choose that option. I’m sorry to hear you felt discouraged to use benefits, I’m surprised to hear this as our HR team work hard to communicate these including Medicash healthcare, monthly wellness days and more. When we have a celebration day it is true that we allow employees to enjoy a drink from our office bar, if they so wish which also includes alcoholic & non alcoholic options plus food is often provided. If you wish to share further information around this I would be very grateful to hear your feedback as it is important that staff incentives are exactly that for everyone involved. Please contact me directly at Martin.Blythe@searchability.com. I am sorry to hear that you felt your experience with us wasn’t positive, and understand that when an employee’s contract ends that they may have frustrations towards management. We of course take all feedback and feelings on board, but please know that decisions like these do not come lightly and your managers are the ones who have been working to try and help you succeed in your time here. It’s in our best interest for our people to do well, so we are disappointed when it does not work out and always do our best to find a solution for all parties. Again I am sorry to hear that you feel this way, and encourage you to contact me on my email to discuss any of this in more detail. I’d like to wish you every success in your new venture & I am sorry that we have been unable to achieve what we all wanted on this occasion & thank you for your efforts whilst at Searchability.
