Pros

Scott Logistics Corp. has a training program that teaches employees the basics of the transportation industry. It is very structured and assesses new hires regularly to allow them to see their progress. Employees have a set schedule that allows most employees to work a standard 8am-5pm work week and then be off during the weekends. As long as the employee is willing to put in the effort to move freight, build carrier and customer contacts and be competitive, the earning potential is unlimited. This job is ideal for anyone who is competitive and understand the link between hard work and financial profitability. It is not for people who do not like sales and negotiations.

Cons

This job isn't for everyone and it generally is not due to the employer. To be successful, one must be willing to stay on the phone building carrier contacts and negotiating carrier pricing. The first few months can be tough when a new employee doesn't have good grasp on the industry or carrier contacts. However, over time it becomes much easier as one builds relationships with carriers. The same can be said for the account manager positions where one has to start with small customer accounts and then grow them through hard work, ethics and negotiating transportation pricing with their customers.
