Pros

Free Scoot rides in SF

Cons

Where do I begin... The CEO (Michael Keating) and CTO (Kunal Bhasin) are two of the most incompetent and unprofessional people I have ever met. From a pure business standpoint, the company is a mess. There is no long term product roadmap, the CEO doesn't tell the rest of the company when he wants to launch products, they don't staff projects appropriately or have realistic schedules. They waste money like crazy because no one plans ahead. Furthermore, the Scoot leadership is incredibly arrogant, and they don't listen to people who have years of experience in the fields they are trying to work in. And they cut corners even when safety is concerned - I kept bringing up regulatory testing as a major concern but it didn't fit into their launch schedule so it was ignored. From a management standpoint, Michael and Kunal were a nightmare to deal with. Michael is a terrible communicator, and Kunal is full of hot air. He loves to hear himself talk but doesn't say anything useful. Everyone on the engineering team ignores Kunal, unless you're one of the unlucky people that he micromanages and then he schedules multiple 1:1 meetings with you in the same day just to waste your time. It should have been a red flag when I saw I was the only woman on the engineering team, and I soon found out why. Kunal liked to regularly ask my direct report about my project right in front of me, and made sexist comments to my face. When I reported this and other unacceptable behaviors to the CEO and asked to switch managers, he told me it would set a bad precedent for me to switch managers and blamed me for not telling him sooner (it had been 3 months). When I made an HR complaint, they kicked me out of the office. Never in my life have I been treated so poorly by a company, but it was the perfect example of how Scoot operates: no forethought or strategy, just a completely emotional reaction from Michael.

Pros

Great bunch of people who are mission driven, and, well, just driven. Hard working friendly people out to save the world. Doesn't get better than this.

Cons

Supporting a large fleet of vehicles around the globe can be stressful. Not for the feint of heart. Your heart really as to be into saving the world and improving urban transportation, and it really helps if you love cruising around your city on brand new vehicle designs

Pros

Kind people who want to see the world become a better place. True teammates who want to help when you need it, a safe environment to fail/grow. Super healthy work/life balance: office is empty at 5:30. Free Scooting. Most people are absolutely brilliant and wonderful to work with.

Cons

HQ team works side-by-side with fleet mechanics and vehicle R&D which is cool but really noisy. As the team grows globally it can feel like herding cats sometimes. A lot of transparency (good) but not a ton of accountability (not good). Small player in a big space (not ideal for those looking for insane growth/valuations/unlimited budgets for tech teams). International offices and vendors can be tough to work with sometimes as a woman. Constantly fighting fires, work can feel a bit like fighting a Hydra.
