High expectations for low pay. They also don't pay everyone the same rate for the same position. Several of the people that were hired at the same time I was hired, were promised a raise after 30 days if they liked our performance in the job. They told all of us after 30 days that they loved our performance but wouldn't be giving us raises cause the company didn't have the money. They said we would reevaluate a raise after 30 days. After 30 days, they said they still didn't have the money to give any of us a raise. This kept going on till I finally left. By the time I left, no one had ever gotten a raise but they had hired new staff members at higher rates per hour. The new staff members thought that their rates were standard and were shocked that the employees that were doing more than them in the same position were not getting paid the same as they were. The gaps in wages spanned several dollars apart. On top of this, everyone in the organization was given different instructions on how to do things which made for a hectic work environment. The managers were never in tune to what the owners wanted in the organization which led to a lot of miscommunication and difficulties while trying to do what should be a fairly simple job. During the time that they said would be the best time and job of my life, it currently holds the title of being the worst job I've ever had. No one should go home crying from the mental abuse I suffered from a simple barista job. My only hope in writing this is that whoever is reading this and thinking about working here really rethinks it. Know your worth. I truly hope Savoy Tea has changed their ways and is a better work environment than it was when I worked there. So if you do apply for a position here, please be careful. As with any job you take, make sure that you are truly happy.
