Cons
My advice for anyone considering a long-term career with SLS/Virtual Academy is to do your due diligence on the front end. You can start with Glassdoor or other review sites and just read the reviews. Obviously, people get mad, lash out, and say things that aren’t the truth. However, when you have as much as sixty or so reviews and the largest percentage are negative, and you see a trend amongst the reviews, maybe there is something to it. I won’t defame or disparage anyone at this company, everyone has a job to do. What I will share with you is that this was the most negative experience I’ve ever had in a workplace. For me, and me alone, I felt that I was a small part of a big experiment. I never experienced consistent leadership, but rather constant shifts with no clear direction or consistency. At times I felt that senior leadership lacked any real connection to the product, employees, or industry. I was told by many that it took a particular personality type to work there and be successful. I apparently did not possess what was needed. I didn’t listen to what people were telling me, I didn’t think the reviews were a good reflection of the actual organization, and I didn’t reach out to the countless former employees on LinkedIn. I tried to be successful like I had been at previous jobs, but I could not crack the code at Savant. I wish I had followed my gut and not gotten involved with this organization. For me it was an incredible waste of my time and effort.
