Love working here. I am not very experienced in this industry and I was immediately hired as a manager. I only work a few days a week as I live a few hours away.

No fast food for a few miles, and a lack of gas stations to get snacks. Most of the people that worked under me have quit which bothers me.

There are no micromanagers in Salinas. There are tons of work, but the leaders will let us work on them as we see fit. There is a real sense of team with people in Salinas because we are not afraid to help each other. This is also because we are able to make our own decisions on how to tackle that mountain of work. At our research station, we are starting to see more and more young leaders step up to run whole sections of our company. I see everyone trying to improve on what was done before. At the moment, it is definitely an exciting place to work.

Compared to other big time seed companies, the pay is almost comically low. It is enough to live. We also do not have the resources (high-tech greenhouses, money for labor...etc.) that other companies might be able to offer. We make do with what we have.
