Pros
The employees were (past tense as so many have now left) incredibly talented and smart, we had a good camaraderie. The product and packaging are really good.
Cons
This is a B corp company that did not take Covid seriously. Throughout 2020 there was never a plan communicated and as recently as 6 months ago the staff wasn’t alerted that someone on the team had tested positive. This is a company that claims they are “woman led”, but has a majority male leadership team. I have attended meetings in which a man argued with a woman over how her own body works. The undertones of misogyny are ever present. This is a company where the founders are obsessed with being liked and having their ideas validated. If they feel someone doesn’t like an idea they will call them, but they don’t want feedback, they want to convince you why they are right. This is a company that rewards smiling but censures common sense. There is a severe lack of business knowledge. There are not clear and measurable metrics. What is the margin? What is the quarterly conversion goal? How are we tracking to plan? When does our fiscal year end? These are all questions that had differing answers or no answer. In fact, on more than one occasion, I was called negative for asking. An attempt has been made to solicit positive reviews (which can be read below) from current employees. A misguided effort that would be better channeled into identifying and addressing the issues leading to the current 25% turnover rate in staff (8 people in 12 weeks).
