Pros
Not many pros, other than the residents and my coworkers! We had a great team spirit and I felt that we all generally respected each other.
Cons
Management definitely chose who they respected and catered to. Dietary is treated unfairly compared to the other departments. Other departments would always have food catered in, paid by upper management. Dietary rarely received any recognition or appreciation.
I found that there was not much flexibility when it came to emergencies or needing a day off. Two unexpected hospital trips cost my job. Schedule is posted 12-weeks in advance, so it is very difficult if you need a day off. Forget finding your own replacement, even in the case of emergency, they will not allow other staff to pick up your hours if it puts them in overtime. Overtime, it started to feel that I was no longer valued as a person, but rather just a body to fill a shift. The focus seemed to be on coverage rather than care or compassion for the employees. There was little to no communication or support from leadership, and when concerns were brought up, they were often brushed off or ignored.
