Pros

Exposed to a great variety of commercial and public projects. Their focus is Education, but there are opportunities to work on commercial buildings, multi-family housing, civic / public buildings, memorials and more. The firm size (~30) is large enough that there is someone specialized in each step of the project process to help guide it along, but small enough that you still get a chance to work on each step, and work collaboratively with everyone through each one. You'll have your main focuses to work on, but won't be pigeon-holed into doing one repetitive task ad-nauseum. Excellent senior staff and partners with a wide variety of expertise and knowledge to learn from. Company culture is important, team activities, gatherings, daily frisbee breaks, etc.

Cons

In attempting to keep firm size smaller (which is a plus), while keeping new projects rolling in, work load can become overloading at times. Does not happen often, however.

Pros

Hybrid work schedule - that’s it!

Cons

If I could give zero stars, I would! Highly disorganized, no leadership, no consequences for incompetence or excessive absenteeism, leadership does not care about morale, burnout or employee satisfaction, HIGH turnover (25%+), there are two managing partners when there should be 3-5 and only one of them actually has any power. Your coworkers will not make any decisions without Mark (managing partner) and he’s never available, so you will never get anything done. You will be expected to know the history of the company without ever being trained on it. None of the employees know what SPS stands for (someone’s names?). There is no training. The office is old and outdated and desperately needs a remodel, doors are broken, conference rooms are tiny, the private phone booths are not sound proof or lockable, the desks are old and chairs are uncomfortable.
