Pros
Good gym, some company events
Cons
Avoid if possible - for the credentials they are seeking to work in the finance department, you will be able to find a company that has much better management, more interesting work, and less chaotic data and systems. If you truly want to work at SOCAN in an acccounting/finance capacity, consider operational audit which has a great and intelligent director and manager (but unfortunately under the same CFO). People are generally nice at SOCAN, but it's an archaic management style. Upper finance management do not have their CPA designation and seem to lack knowledge that a CPA should have. They try to remedy this by hiring talent below, which results in high turnaround for managers (there have been three managers in the past two years) because they are overworked and undersupported. The lack of support appears to be due to incompetence, not due to constrained resources. The age of the finance team is generally older, and tends to be less progressive. The younger staff are generally unhappy as a result, which causes a high turnaround of good talent.
