Pros
I would say the people working here, but even they are back-stabbing self-serving poor excuses for co-workers I've ever had to deal with in my career. There is not a single redeeming quality about this company.
Cons
Where can I begin? Should I start with the inept management or the ego-maniacal owner? Really they both go hand-in-hand and cause a completely dysfunctional working environment, that is consistently in a state of flux and chaos, because there is no stability in personnel, nor is there any admiration or recognition for performing your job well and to the best of your ability in an environment such as the one at Smith.
The owner will rip off employees, vendors, customer and the government if a single penny is to be made. These short-sighted decisions have come at the cost of any real growth for the company, and when pointed out to the owner, his nonsensical ramblings of why only exasperate the situations.
Every person who starts at the company comes in with high expectations only to see them destroyed within a very short period of time. Many do not stay which will account for the nearly 160 or so turnovers in around a 10 year time frame. It breaks down to 16 or so people a year, in a company that at most has 25 or so employees at any one time. If this fact doesn't shed light on the real Smith, I'm not sure what else anyone could say that would.
Do not make the career mistake I made; steer clear of Smith Manufacturing.
