Pros
Discipline of kids was good compared to other hagwons. Good location. Pay on time.
Cons
This is without doubt the worst job I've ever had in my life, and I've had a few very bad ones. From day one you will be completely run off your feet (even by hagwon standards). Each day you will receive one thirty minute break where 95% of the time you wont even be able to take the full 30 minutes. You will eat your lunch quickly, then go straight back to work to attempt to keep up with the insane levels of admin and non-teaching tasks which you are expected to carry out on a daily basis. Things such as book ordering, schedule making, report writing to parents on a WEEKLY basis, feeding the kids during lunch time, standing outside the school to greet the kids, as well as the standard book marking, lesson planning and material making etc. Breaks simply do not exist in this place. In terms of the teaching material, the school decides to pile insane amounts of book work onto the kids. There are barely any games or fun teaching activities and every single page of work is expected to be checked by the teachers. Be expected to check literally 120+ pages of work each week. Often well over this amount. Lessons are incredibly stressful and every second is rushed due to the amount of pages that MUST be completed due to the intense schedule. The working atmosphere is absolutely unbearable amongst staff. Teachers are made to feel incredibly uncomfortable if they are talking in the teaching room and don't have their heads down working for every second of the day. It's a horrendously awkward environment where many staff hardly make eye contact with each other let alone talk. The management personnel have gone completely off the rails, are INCREDIBLY stressed, and difficult to relate to. It's difficult not to feel sympathetic towards the mental health of certain members of staff, working without a proper vacation and without breaks each day for years on end has clearly taken it's toll... and it unfortunately leads to an insufferable all round atmosphere. There needs to be more staff hired to cope with the intolerable workload, however, the management are hell-bent on stretching the workforce a thinly as possible because.. you know... business. People don't stick around. There is CONSTANT rotation of staff in the workplace, both Korean and foreign staff come and go on a monthly basis. 20+ members of staff left in the one year period I worked there. There are so many other complaints I have about this place and would advise anybody to STAY WELL AWAY. It isn't worth compromising your health and I wouldn't wish it upon anybody.
