Pros

Coming to the end of 2.5 years at Rocketer in Manchester I can honestly say I’ve enjoyed my time immensely. The senior leadership place a high importance of curating a welcoming work environment and fostering a “servant-leader” approach to new hires, the end result is that this is one of the few agency-style companies I’ve worked for that has successfully avoided the curse of poorly trained middle managers. The CEO and CFO are also far more visible than you might expect, with weekly all-staff meetings allowing direct communication between these guys and the wider team. During my time at the company I witnessed the Operations (media activation) team transition from a handful of employees into a far larger operation with colleagues hired internationally. Rapid growth such as this has brought with it the expected stresses and issues, but these continue to be addressed. Remote working was very early embraced by Rocketer at the start of the pandemic, and remains entirely optional, although I perceived an increasing strong suggestion from leadership to spend at least some days each week in the office space, prior to my departure The nature of the tech and client KPIs means work-life balance could be better, and it was rarely possible to mentally decouple from the work, even during evenings and weekends. Career progression also remains less than clear - with obsolete, conflicting and incoming progression templates existing simultaneously – and I can only think of three people who saw changes to their title during my tenure. Nonetheless, yearly pay reviews and a seasonal on-target bonus help mitigate these issues, mostly. Even with these detractions, Rocketer remains a highlight of my career and I wish the team all the luck moving forward

Cons

There were no particular downside of working with Rocketer, other than the points briefly touched on above

Pros

I’ve had plenty of opportunities for growth and development, and there’s always room to expand my skills. The company places a strong emphasis on work-life balance, and I feel appreciated and valued for the contributions I make. The team is friendly, motivated and always willing to help.

Cons

Occasionally, the workload can get overwhelming during busy periods, but it’s manageable with the supportive team environment.
