Pros

Many talented artists and good people coming and going. Interesting projects to work on and somewhat flexible hours. Lots of snacks for artists.

Cons

Poor middle management. Lots of various people in production/coordinating roles with little creative backgrounds giving contrasting opinions on work. Very little respect for the expertise of their artists. Artists are constantly micromanaged. Pipeline is often disorganized and chaotic with tasks put on hold for extended periods of time for no reason only to be assigned at the last minute.

Pros

-Snacks -Cool fellow artists, but which studio doesnt? -lots of job opening because of turnover rate

Cons

Everyone in the industry in Toronto knows about the reputation here. I was well informed before heading in but I always like to see things for myself as a lot of artists in the industry just like to rant. This was hands down the worst studio that I have every worked in and surprisingly, everything I heard about this studio came into fruition while working here and that says a lot considering almost all studios in Toronto are pretty great to work at(minus Spin obviously). The management is unprofessional and toxic, they knowingly throw others under the bus consistently to try to avoid taking blame from whoever is above them. It's very apparent that most of the acting vfx supervisors dont actually have an artist background simply by the way they note work, they clearly dont have the eye for quality and what is correct which really reflects in their work.; as most of the Toronto industry already knows, they put out some of the lowest quality work in the city and I think this is a big factor. Your work is seen by multiple supervisors with different directions that will always contradict eachother, unfortunately, there is no communication between them and it seems when they switch out they dont review the other supervisor's previous notes, so it falls on the artists to just go back and forth between supervisors and contradiciting notes between them which can often make the artists look incompetent. They've lost so many talented and skilled employees in such a short amount of time and it doesnt seem to give them a clue that they are doing something/everything wrong. It really blows my mind how a studio in Canada can operate this way, they've literally had some of the best talent in Toronto come and go because they simply can't change their ways to make for a more standard and accommodating work environment. MICROMANAGEMENT MICROMANAGEMENT MICROMANAGEMENT, cant forget to mention the MICROMNAGAMENT here, this place is MICROMANAGEMENT central. The amount of MICROMANAGEMENT is through the roof. I dont see myself staying here much longer either.
