Pros
- Improve people skills
- Great experience in communication skills
------ Direct marketing is the hardest form of marketing and really tests ones motivation, attitude, and work ethic
------ Great position for learning how to approach people and have natural conversations with them
- Great people
------ Getting to know the people you work with can really help with the day-to-day negatives of the business (such as not have the best production or talking to rude/negative customers)
- Challenging
------ Excelling in a challenging work environment provides one with a great sense of accomplishment
- Great feedback
------ Managers are constantly providing everyone with great feedback and ways to improve oneself
Cons
- Lots of favoritism
------ It seems that the people without a personal life are able to get ahead faster because they can devote more time to the company. People with a family (for example) aren't able to devote as much time and tend to receive less one-on-one time with managers.
- Very low pay (commission-based)
------ It was said that pay was commission OR salary (minimum wage) and that you got paid on whichever one was greater. But in reality, if your commission is lower than the salary, they 'lend' you the money. The following week, if your commission is greater than the salary, they take the money back that they previously let you borrow to you . Which makes sense, but in reality it means you're on commission the whole time.
- 6 days work week
