Cons

Business is in a tailspin. Years of deferred facility and equipment maintenance has rendered our processing centers nearly inoperable. Lost nearly all our core customers due to poor performance, persistent quality issues and lack of competitive pricing. Facilities are poorly operated and upgrades have been neglected for years. Any improvements under another company or owner would require substantial capital investment. Many customer relationship have been irreversibly harmed. Common refrain, "even if you bid 20% lower, there is no way we will do business with you." Competitors have built new and better processing centers better catered to customer needs. Also the industry has evolved whereby many customers just handle their food prep and processing internally in order to control freshness and quality. The days of selling cut fruits and vegetable at any profit are functionally gone. There is simply no value add. Grocers used to only have a small footprint in a store dedicated to grab-and-go fresh products. Now it accounts for >20% of a given stores' sq footage so have the internal scale to handle internally vs outsource.
