Cons

My first month here, I was put on a Performance Improvement Plan, which had nothing to do with actually improving my performance. They set me a near-impossible target to complete within 4 days, following which I would be terminated. Ignoring the fact that it was my first month at my first ever sales job, once the PIP period was over, I was forced to submit a resignation letter, "as a rule" in their words. That turned my termination into a resignation, which meant they didn't have to pay me for the month I worked at this criminal enterprise disguised as a company.

Pros

Leaving the company is the best thing

Cons

I recently quit a firm in Gurgaon, and honestly, the relief is huge. I was hired for operations, but my day felt like a never-ending sales marathon because the actual sales team would make impossible promises to clients just to close deals, then disappear. I was the one getting called a 'fraud' by angry customers while commuting 12 hours a day for a 6-day work week on minimum wage. The breaking point was during a 'review drive' in April. Management promised us ₹100 for every review we brought in. I managed to get 15 reviews in just three days, thinking it would help with the low salary, but they never paid a single rupee. It’s one thing to have a heavy workload, but being forced into every department’s mess while being lied to about incentives is another level. How do you deal with companies that expect you to be a 'jack of all trades' for basic pay? Is it even worth trying to navigate the culture in these small 'Lala' setups, or is jumping ship the only real option?
