Pros
Nothing except the salaries which are on a par for the industry
Cons
If you love being scrutinised 24/7, sworn at constantly and having your time wasted with menial tasks then this is your dream company, Staff aren't given any autonomy and senior editorial staff are treated like interns. Buying milk, being told when you can go for lunch and having to catch the night bus after late events or business dinners/drinks are all normal according to the penny-pinching and ultra controlling MD. Every conversation and internal meeting turns into a row, expertise and best practice are routinely ignored and the two partners bicker constantly making for a very toxic and uncomfortable atmosphere in a small office. If you are dare to have an opinion, based, say, on years of experience, that the MD doesn't agree with then he goes into an explosive rant. The business is centred around cruising but the management make it difficult to go on trips and want to keep the staff in the office where they can watch/control them. Swearing is prolific and male 'banter' straight out of the 80s is cringe worthy at best and sexist and beyond respectful and rude at worst. A truly horrific experience. No wonder staff churn is high while morale is rock bottom.
