Pros

Wonderful, talented coworkers who do not get enough credit

Cons

Constant ridicule, favorites, no room for growth, empty promises. Do not be fooled by the “interior design firm” approach. This is strictly a retail environment who treats their employees like cattle. You WILL be replaced if there is any reason to not like you, regardless of your performance. Leaders like to promise you will move up, and encourage lateral movement within the company, but as soon as you talk to them about this topic, they look for reasons to let you go. Forget about any time off, and you work every major holiday except Christmas Day and thanksgiving day. It is almost impossible to request time off prior to holidays. This company is not a family friendly company, with little family leave and zero tolerance for flexibility regarding children. For example, I was fired without any warning or time to improve because my 5 month old daughter was heard fussing in the background of two calls. I “violated” the work from home agreement due to lack of affordable childcare in my area and the fact that I am breastfeeding her. Leaders will seem to be on your side regarding your family, but are certainly not. This is a company from Hell, I would never recommend to anyone for employment. Save your time and energy. Unless you like to be part of cults, this is a place for you.

Pros

One of the strongest aspects of this role is the autonomy. I’m trusted to make decisions that genuinely support the customer experience without constant approval from leadership. If I believe an exchange plus a $250 gift card is the right solution to preserve a relationship, I’m empowered to do that. That level of trust creates confidence and allows us to move quickly when issues arise. Leadership is accessible when needed, especially in escalated situations. I’ve never felt left alone to manage something beyond my scope. There is also regular voluntary overtime available, which is a plus for those looking to increase their hours. For someone transitioning from another industry, the environment feels more structured and brand-focused, which has been refreshing

Cons

The clientele can be challenging. Some customers assume that spending thousands of dollars entitles them to treat frontline employees disrespectfully, even when those employees had no involvement in the original issue. It can also be frustrating to hold a boundary with a customer, only to see it reversed after escalation. While I understand the desire to preserve relationships, it can unintentionally undermine employee confidence and consistency in standards. Because RH carries so many collections and product variations, the learning curve is steep. Customers often expect immediate, detailed product knowledge, which takes time to develop.
