The staff you'll work with and the frequency of catering make this place worth it - watch your back though. - Independent Contractor RE/MAX Employee Review

Pros

RE/MAX Escarpment Realty Inc., Brokerage is a generally happy, tech-forward place to work. The other staff at the location I was in were friendly and always happy to help and go out of their way to out. The office had a lot of events for everyone to enjoy, and there was always catering hanging around from meetings or other things free to enjoy. A good culture is a value there - stopping to chat for two or three minutes while making a coffee is embraced and I'd say the team is pretty close-knit. A lot of people had a long tenure, too, with close friendships being formed in that time.

Cons

The agents that work in the offices are generally nice, but they don't care about you unless you're one of them (typical of most brokerages). They'll talk about you behind your back and pretend they're your friend when they need help - and you help them, because it's your job. And then, if you don't smile while you stand and photocopy something they're too lazy to do themselves they *will* complain to someone that you weren't being friendly. Being owned by a small family there are very traditional values here - they care about their employees but not beyond them being employees. Their pay is decent for the people in upper management roles but they don't compensate a lot of other people fairly nor allow for much growth in their roles. The way they fire people is incredibly demeaning - one of the assistants in an office I was floating at was made to put their things in a black trash bag and was walked out (something I saw myself).
