Technical - Animal Technician QBI Employee Review

I have been working full time for this company for less than a year now, and I am extremely pleased both with the management and the culture in this company. To me, these two aspects are the most important in keeping a happy and satisfied work life for staff members. This is what allows employees to be happy to come to work and enjoy their job, while feeling motivated to do their job to the best of their ability.

Thus far, I have not had any bad experiences or had any complaints about my work life at this company.

Many things that would be considered perks elsewhere seem to be part of the norm at QBI and make me look forward to coming to work every day. Most importantly, the people that work here are awesome, and because of the common spaces and the open office feel you get to interact quite a bit with people from all around. At the team level, there is plenty more cohesion. Not only can I say that the tech division has a great, tight knit team, but it is the same for others as well. There is profound respect as well as friendship between the junior and senior level employees. The founder of the company sits in an office close to me and frequently will engage in fun conversations with myself and other colleagues. Members of the management team will also engage in small talk and work on building a relationship; in my experience, everyone tries hard to do their job well while demonstrating care for their colleagues. The office space is pretty and clean with splendid views from the top (12th) floor. The environment is friendly and relaxed but professional nonetheless. Fridays are casual dress as well as a shorter day. People take time to celebrate everyone's birthdays with cake, song, and gift cards. Often throughout the year there are events that celebrate holidays and other occasions allowing everyone in the company to get together. There are companywide bi-monthly games that keep everyone entertained and involved; plus, the winner is rewarded a gift-card! If company sponsored events aren't enough, the staff is so kind that there is often free food/snacks in the kitchen. Often, you'll see a set of fresh bagels and cheese or donuts waiting to help start your day. Additionally, there is a free company provided coffee and tea station. Work related matters are just as positive. People around the company are also responsive and there is always help when needed. In my role, there is a lot of responsibility but also a good amount of freedom and little pressure. My supervisor is very knowledgeable and always nearby to provide assistance when needed. Otherwise we meet to report progress, discuss strategy, and delegate projects. Together we tackle various types of issues and are allowed to learn new technologies as is required.
