Pros

Purdue University, like many universities, allows certain employees a flexible schedule. You can essentially determine the hours you work as long as you can get your work done and your supervisor doesn't mind. You do not need to work more than 40 hours a week if you aren't a professor. It's also a cheap area to live- very affordable. Purdue is always changing- with the influx of new students each year, any position you hold where you get to interact with them will be different year to year, even if your duties remain the same. It's nice to get to work with new people!

Cons

The pay isn't very good, and they don't get rid of people who aren't good at their jobs. Salary increases are very small, even for the top performers. It can be frustrating if the students you work with have no respect for their jobs and don't care about doing research. Certain professors at Purdue can be very lax about disciplining their students who are cheating or making up their data, and just pass the problem onto the next person who needs to deal with them. I actually encountered a professor who didn't fail anyone because they didn't want to have to deal with the bad students again.

Pros

Great benefits and job security. Large organization with plenty of opportunity for lateral moves, try new jobs, and get promoted.

Cons

Perhaps too much emphasis and love for the invention of AI.
