Pros

Financial reward - if you are a licensed broker or in a management role there is a huge opportunity to earn serious money. The people - friendly, fun and driven individuals that make the long days slightly more tolerable.

Cons

Where to start... I Have worked in a variety of different areas of the business during my time at Protect Line I have seen first hand just how broken, corrupt and dangerous this place really is. I’ll start with the financial rewards. This job really does enable you to earn a silly amount of money however you’ll need to be prepared to completely discard your morale compass, personal/social life and sense of well-being. Consultants are as close as forced to emotionally blackmailing and mis-selling to their unsuspecting clients, whilst squeezing ever last penny out of them in the process. This results in a number on the sales board and in turn into the directors pockets. The business operates in a twisted diluted Wolf of Wall Street manor and as it is in most sales roles of the 1980’s the more you are able to manipulate your clients the more handsomely your pockets will be lined. The senior management team - you will constantly be reminded about how much the directors and senior management team do for you every single day. This is nothing more than scare tactics and emotional blackmail in its simplest form. The staff benefits are non existent and you are nothing more that a number. If you are not pulling your weight in the first couple of hours of the day than you are simply dead weight and surplus’s to requirements. The most important thing to the whole senior management team is image. Consultants are required to make sure that our clients leave a 5 star Trust Pilot review after every sale. If anything less than a 5 star review is left than that customer is either bullied into changing their review, or offered financial benefits all so that Protect Line can remain number 1 on trust pilot. Not only deceitful, but also FAKE NEWS. Negative Glassdoor reviews are usually removed as well so don’t expect this one to hang around too long. The mid-level management - I have a general belief that the mid level management team, in most, generally want to aid with the development of their staff. Unfortunately, they are all eventually moulded into puppets who spend their entire working day micromanaging and passive aggressively challenging your ability to deliver consistent sales targets. Training and coaching is non existent and when you are having a bad day you will be reminded about how much support and time you’ve been given and made to feel that the directors aren’t possibly going to be able to eat because of your result. The lies and false promises - these will start in your interview because let’s not forget you will probably be interviewed by somebody who in short is a salesman. You will be told from the start about how this is a family run business and how much you will be cared about blah blah blah. Do not be fooled! Yes this is family run business but you and your family are not important. The hours are unimaginable with zero flexibility. You will be made to work outside of your contracted hours unpaid and you best not get sick as you will not be paid, or even be able to consult a doctor because work is too important. The carrot will be dangled consistently about progression and it all seems too good to be true... and that’s because it is. Progression is non existent. Nearly every manager that is brought into the business is demoted and ends up on the phone selling. There is a huge level of attrition contrary to the warped beliefs of the recruitment team and you are quite simply as disposable as the last person to leave. In short avoid working here if you value your family life, social life and yourself. The stress, anxiety and sacrifices are not worth the financial benefits.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your views, and provide us with detailed feedback. We are sorry to hear that you feel the way you do about your time with the business. We take all feedback as a learning opportunity and therefore we will be certainly taking the time to evaluate and reflect on your comments. I felt it important to respond to some of your points individually with the aid of providing clarity and balance. When the business was set up the decision was made to offer higher than average basic salaries and bonuses, rather than an extensive benefits package. However over the years this has evolved and a bespoke package is on offer for those within performance related roles, which includes car allowances, additional holiday, suit and clothing allowance and a personal cleaner. This is something we do review as a business, and with the fullness of time we are wondering if we need to look at options of salaries at reduced levels so we are able to offer benefits such as sick pay. In 2017 we introduced an employee benefit called Babylon which gives employees access to emergency medical appointments online, which the company pays for. This allows individuals the option of seeking medical support quicker than their own GP, as we recognise that many people in and outside of our business do not always afford themselves the time to visit the doctors. Of course staff still have the option to visit their own doctor and as a business we fully support this, with multiple people doing this each and every week. Our Babylon service has been used by many staff, and I know as a result there have been instances where individuals have received treatment or a prescription within hours of making an appointment, which they are very grateful of. Trust Pilot is a platform in which customers can leave their own feedback about their experiences with us as a business. A huge amount of these reviews mention our agents by name which they are incredibly proud of. There have been some situations where customers have left a positive comment, coupled with a low rating. In this instance we have reached out to customers to clarify if the rating was accurate based on the positive comments. As a result some customers have gone back on to amend their review. On the odd occasions where there has been a genuine dissatisfaction of service we have naturally engaged with those customers to better understand the situation and seek to remedy it. We truly believe that mistakes happen in any organisation when servicing customers, however the manner and spirit in which a company seeks to remedy such situations truly defines them. We are saddened to hear your comment that our Trust Pilot reviews are fake news, given the high volume of heart felt comments that customers have left about the service that many of our hard working staff deliver. In addition we are certain that if we were bullying customers into changing their reviews or financially rewarding them, that this would have been reported to Trust Pilot and they themselves would have taken action. You have made reference to Glassdoor reviews being removed, and you are correct that earlier this year Glassdoor removed one as it contravened their policy. There was also a recent review that was posted at a similar time to this one, which Glassdoor also removed as again it contravenes their policy. There are instances where people have struggled to make the transition into their role whether at Management or agent level. Our initial approach is to identify the root cause and how best to move forward from this through discussion with the employee. On some occasions we have looked at alternative roles within the business as this enables an employee the opportunity of staying in continued employment, without having to secure another role. Reading your review has made us realise that our good intentions have the capacity to be perceived differently, so with this in mind should we face a similar situation again we will give deeper consideration to this. As a business we have recognised that further training and development would be beneficial with all levels of employees, and as such have introduced a Head of Learning and Development and other coaching based roles in the department to focus on these areas. In terms of our hours- a number of our roles do offer flexibility at recruitment stage, and as such we have a variety of both part time and flexible working patterns across the business. In the last year changes have been made to various departments finish times to reduce the impact of people’s personal lives, as we recognise it has been a former business challenge. We hope our responses have been taken in the spirit in which they are intended which is to provide balance. You have definitely given us things to go away and reflect on as a business, and I thank you for taking the time to provide us with your views. It does however lead us to wonder why you remained in the business for over 3 years given the strength of your views, and had we been aware of how you felt earlier in your journey if we could have openly discussed your concerns, and if it was beyond resolution, parted company in a more positive way. If you would like to discuss this further please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Pros

Okay salary, they train well, if you're not in sales you'll probably like working here

Cons

If you are in sales find somewhere else, it's miserable. As soon as you leave training, it become apparent how poor the job is and the sales management that work there. Major power trips and fakeness, couldn't leave soon enough. They have a staff turnover that would make your eyes water

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. We’re really pleased to hear that you felt supported during training and found the salary and training opportunities positive. At the same time, we’re genuinely sorry to hear that your experience in a sales role didn’t meet your expectations. We take feedback around management approach, transparency, and environment very seriously. Sales roles can be fast paced and high pressure, and creating a culture that feels genuine, supportive, and fair is something we continually strive for. You’ve mentioned turnover, which is something we’re open about as a business. As a sales led organisation with a relatively early career demographic, we do expect a degree of natural movement, particularly in roles that suit people for a certain stage of their career. Our focus has always been on providing strong training, development, and progression during someone’s time with us - whether that leads to progression internally or prepares them for their next step with greater skills and experience than when they joined. We’re also proud that many of our sales executives and leaders have been with us for over 10 years, and our overall attrition has been trending in the right direction year on year. We really appreciate you sharing your honest perspective. If you’d be open to discussing your experience in more detail or offering specific suggestions, we’d genuinely welcome that conversation. We wish you all the very best in your next role.

Pros

The overall culture at Protect Line is great, everyone is friendly and genuinely cares for each others wellbeing. The job itself is fairly pressured, however you are paid well to compensate this, there is no such thing as a free lunch at the end of the day so if you work hard you’ll see a very healthy income. Management are supportive and encouraging, the HR team are second to none and take their job seriously, there is no judgement from them and they treat you with respect and care. The office is clean and modern with a huge recent investment into it, it’s like working for a big tech company or something! From the top to the bottom there is a sense of togetherness so when you have hard days you’ll always have that to lean on.

Cons

Some reviews talk about long days, that can be true, most days you’ll get out on time but some days you won’t. Sometimes the day to day can feel repetitive, however they do try to break the day up with various engaging activities or training. It is quite pressured, it’s the nature of a sales environment, but you do get used to it and the better you get at the job the less pressure you’ll feel.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful and balanced review. We’re really pleased to hear your positive comments about the culture at Protect Line, and that you found the environment friendly and supportive. Creating a workplace where people genuinely care for one another’s wellbeing is incredibly important to us, so it’s lovely to hear this reflected in your experience. We appreciate your honesty around the more pressured aspects of the role. Sales environments can naturally be fast paced and in some cases repetitive, and we know this won’t be the same for everyone every day. We’re glad to hear that the team activities and training sessions helped bring some variety, and we will continue to explore new ways of keeping the day-to-day experience engaging and rewarding. Regarding working hours, you’re right that on occasion people may finish slightly later—particularly when they are supporting a customer or wrapping up an important conversation. However, the majority of our team do finish on time, and we have worked hard to review our standard hours and provide flexible patterns where possible to support a healthy work–life balance. Thank you also for your feedback on management styles. We recognise the importance of evolving our leadership approach, and we’re pleased you’ve noticed the steps we’ve been taking in this area. Your point about focusing on long‑term performance rather than isolated moments is incredibly valuable, and we always strive to achieve the right balance between looking at the "here and now" and the "bigger picture". It’s wonderful to hear that you felt supported overall and built strong relationships with many of the managers. Feedback like yours helps us continue making improvements that genuinely matter to our colleagues. If you have any further suggestions or would like to share more about your experience, we would be grateful to hear from you. Thank you once again for taking the time to share your experience with us.
