These bad reviews have recently come to our attention. We have reason to believe these reviews are all from the same former employee. It seems very coincidental that these reviews are left every time we advertise for a new position.
I’m glad to hear the person enjoyed the team and found the workplace presentable. It is true that many years ago when we first introduced working from home opportunities that we used webcams for a few months. However, to suggest it was to spy on employees is simply incorrect. In the beginning, we were concerned about how it would impact the team togetherness and whether those working from home would feel detached, so it was actually a member of the team that suggested having two-way cameras between the office and those working from home with a large screen in the main service desk room. It was discussed during our company meeting and it was agreed as a team it was a good idea. However, after a couple of months, we asked for feedback and the consensus from those working from home was that it felt awkward having the cameras in their home. As a result, we ditched the two-way camera system immediately and have not used it since.
Some of the comments are simply not true. Speaking as the Managing Director I am proud that the first person I employed in 2005 is still with us today, and I would like to think I have gained some experience over the last 17 years since starting the company. However, I am not perfect and think it is important to keep learning. Arrogance and strutting in at leisure is not something I ever heard or recognised in the past, if anything I think we might be guilty of being too far the other way.
Our former offices were in the middle of a field, some people loved it the location, but I understand it was a bit rural for some, especially for some of the younger members of the team. It offered plenty of parking and the landowner also owned an ISP which gave us an opportunity for a superb internet connection, which as an IT company was an attractive part of having the office. I am pleased to say we are now in new modern offices that have been built with the team and company in mind.
Whilst we might not be a perfect employer, we do try to look after our team, and I believe we do more than most. Some of the things we provide include:
- Working from home opportunities
- Company vehicles
- 32 days holiday as standard
- Regular appraisals
- Regular staff outing
- Half-day Fridays for those that are office-based
- Like the queen, everyone has two birthdays.
- Modern offices with Xbox’s, Sonos system & Smart equipment
- Regular team meetings to talk openly about the business, problems & progression
- Opportunity for Training including regular training days (both soft skill & certified based)
- Dedicated kitchen and staff area
- We won BEST PLACE TO WORK within our area & came runner-up the following year
If anyone reading this would like to discuss the review further, I would welcome a conversation. Equally, I am confident that I could randomly pick out any employee or client and that the feedback would be positive.
Unfortunately, Glassdoor do not vet whether the person leaving the review is genuine. It would be good if people were verified using some sort of formal identification, or had employment verified by HMRC.
