Pros

Could get certified through Pro Pool

Cons

Were told there would be incremental increases in pay for hitting milestones throughout the summer, that never happened. Scheduling was a nightmare. Teens barely older than I were my supervisor, and never wanted to work. Were told we had to work 2 summer holidays, I was one of the few who actually did. Management didn't listen to issues.

Pros

Great for summer work, especially highschoolers

Cons

Lots of different pools with different rules. Best to find a pool you like working at.

Pros

I got to make my own schedule, since I was a manger. Being one of the best employees is not difficult, due to most other employees being terrible. There are monthly raises, if you ask for them and are one of the few reliable employees. Lots of time to think while on the job. If you can entertain yourself by thinking of interesting things, this job is the best.

Cons

Dealing with rampant ineptitude was problematic at times. For every good life guard, there are two to three super lazy guards. Also, pay starts below the minimum wage, yet it costs $200 and a weekend to be trained. That's a sizable hurdle for most beginning guards, especially when McDonalds is hiring for better starting pay... That's not to say this job isn't worth applying to, I recommend it over most other highschool and college jobs.
