They dangled the idea of going public frequently to keep employees engaged and feeling like their time is well spent to vest in their shares. Then either lay off the employees before or con you into buying the shares with what feels like no real intentions of ever going public. So the shares you buy are practically worthless. They change their strategy with the wind then just let people go when that strategy doesn't work.
