Pros

The people at Plooto are kind and smart. I liked the hybrid work model and some of the perks.

Cons

The prior CEO was a terrible leader and created a dysfunctional company. I didn't feel respected and didn't feel safe at work. Everyone was scared to bring up issues because the CEO could lose his temper and become angry. So, everyone hides problems and issues from leadership. The CEO is an excessive micromanager, and everyone spends so much time doing things that he can understand. All decisions go through him; he dictates unrealistic metrics that the company never comes close to hitting. He keeps the teams busy with unnecessary and useless work. This is why things take so long. The CEO interferes with every detail. Everyone thinks his ideas are dumb, and he asks the team to do things for his ego instead of benefiting our customers. He is so obsessed with Amazon that he makes everyone write long papers that take weeks, so no one takes initiative. He is disrespectful to his employees. I have heard him say engineers are lazy, make fun of people who don’t stay long at work, and that tech debt is job security for engineers. The pay is low for the work you do. They need to start matching market salaries.

Pros

Plooto has been on a meaningful transformation journey, and the progress over the past two years has been real. The company has done the hard work of rebooting its culture, strengthening leadership, and creating more clarity around how we work, make decisions, and grow together. The CEO and executive team have brought a much stronger sense of focus, transparency, and operating discipline. 2025 in particular felt like a true reboot year: clearer priorities, more accountable leadership, better communication, and a renewed commitment to building a high-performing, people-first company. The culture is one of the biggest positives. There is a strong emphasis on trust, inclusion, ownership, learning, and doing great work with heart. I’ve seen meaningful investment in leadership development, employee experience, benefits, and the systems needed to help the company scale in a healthier and more sustainable way. Plooto is also full of smart, kind, mission-driven people who care deeply about the work and about supporting small businesses. It feels like a company with a strong foundation and a genuinely positive trajectory.

Cons

Like many companies going through transformation, Plooto is still maturing in some areas. The pace can be fast, priorities can shift, and there is still work to do to simplify processes and make sure teams have the clarity they need as the company scales. This is probably not the right environment for someone looking for a fully built, highly predictable company. It is a better fit for people who are energized by growth, change, ownership, and helping build the next version of the company.

Pros

- People were kind - Projects were easy

Cons

- Felt very cold at times as a result of the remote work policy - Company space is boring - Lots of red tape given the size of the company
