Pros

Decent compensation and benefits. Co-workers are great.

Cons

No work/life balance. No experienced operators left. When people do give their notice, no effort is made to retain the employees, just a smile and wave and your position is filled by the next contract rail operator. More operators have quit than there are operator positions in the last couple years. Even the new guys who get a little bit of experience quickly have their eyes opened and want out because they don't feel safe. All work is reactionary and a lot of incidents get swept under the rug if it's in managements benefit

Pros

Corporate in Calgary are bringing infrastructure up to 2015 standards. Corporate had many professional people to assist operations in the field

Cons

Poor leadership at the Schaefferstown, PA District Office. Lazy management that is more interested in hiring friends than hiring qualified people. District Office provided no support to Terminal Operations in the field. More interested in relocating friends from California than hiring, leading, and developing qualified people locally. More important to hire friends with the same religious beliefs.
