Pros
Pitney Bowes is a decent starting point for getting sales experience. Good reputation that lets you successfully move on after a few years. Decent insurance coverage. Can you succeed and have a 20+ year career at Pitney Bowes... Yes! Does it take a lot of "off the clock" efforts if you wish to succeed... Yes! Are you going to eat Top Ramen your first year because you're making less per hour than the kid at McDonalds..... It's a possibility!!! Oh, we did get base pay raises in 2009. Still well below sales industry standard.
Cons
Pitney Bowes is the creator and leader in an industry that is dying! Especially in these economic times, a "stamp machine" is a luxury that many small businesses are axing. The solution? Load up on new third party products while continuing to have new employees focus on mail machines. Bravo for looking in new directions..... Training is falling short however. 2009 also brought many new micro-management techniques. This means less time selling and more time filling out paperwork explaining why you aren't selling as much.
