Pros
I’m glad for this opportunity to review Pinpoint Intelligence or now known as Pinpoint Payments. I’ve seen and read the reviews posted and feel compelled to respond. I am currently the longest tenured employee at Pinpoint and feel I’m best suited to give a true picture of what it’s like to work for the firm. No, things are not perfect, and I don’t think you can expect that from any workplace, but the complaints and gripes are unfair and misdirected. Can everyone who griped about Pinpoint please look in the mirror? Were you really a good employee? Or you just have a distorted sense of self? Many of your complaints were addressable if you just spoke up or asked questions. Here’s why I’m still at Pinpoint and why it’s a good place to work, IF you’re the right individual. BTW, reviews of the Florida office, good or bad, aren’t relevant anymore. There’s the Fresh Meadows, New York office and several team members work remotely. Pros • Small, but growing, company where everyone needs to work together, or things fall apart quickly. We’ve had individuals that fitted in perfectly and strengthened the team from day one. They were assets here but would have been assets anywhere they worked. • Your duties AND SALARY are affected by what you do and how you do it. While pay may not be limitless, it is only truly capped by your abilities and work ethics. • The perfect place to work if you are self-motivated and take pride in your work. Pretty much true for any business. • The job becomes what you make of it. I started out in an administrative role and have moved on a different job title; I don’t know what but don’t really care. I now train, manage, or whatever is required because I’ve demonstrated my abilities. • The owners are always looking to grow the business and willing to take chances with opportunities and individuals. I’ve seen several different ventures in my time. For people new to the business, you’re given time to learn and adapt to the business. • Job is fluid and ever changing because the payment processing industry is that way, never boring. • Learned a lot about a side of business I wasn’t aware of. It will help me in the future whether I’m at Pinpoint or elsewhere. • 3 partners may mean 3 bosses to some, but I see it as 3 different opportunities to communicate my concerns if needed. • Convenient location. Major time saver. • Unconventional office is great with the right personalities. Fun and laidback atmosphere. • Casual dress code. Huge savings in dry cleaning bills. • Flexible hours. Especially important with a growing family. • Paycheck is always deposited on time or early. Weekends and holidays don’t delay your money. • Office environment. A concerted effort has been made to make it more pleasant. Little perks like coffee, snacks, and such have brightened the workday.
Cons
• Small, but growing, company where everyone needed to work together, or things fell apart quickly. We’ve had a few individuals that did not fit in and their weaknesses damaged the business and increased the workload for everyone else. Toxic people stay away. • If you need constant direction, clearly defined roles, and duties determined by position and salary, please do not apply. Pinpoint is not for you. Initiative and self-motivation are requirements here; as they should be for any job. • Hiring process. Probably true for all companies, but the screening and selection process did not weed out weak candidates. It was evident quickly with a few new hires that they were wrong for this job. • The industry is fluid and ever changing which makes training difficult at times and some people didn’t adapt well to it. • Like any business, some of our clients make the job a pleasure, but some are unbearable. • Management’s handling of issues could use improvement. They were not always aware of everything. • The computer systems are not great. Aside from the hardware issues, the integration of Windows, Google Suite, and other 3rd party programs created software problems. • Benefits package needs improvement. There’s no retirement plan and paid time off needs work. • Parking is terrible, but hopefully that will change soon.
