Job security has been non-existent since the recent layoffs. Teams were gutted and key managers axed. Those that were left have been putting out fires nearly daily. Operations are very disorganized and there are frequent breakdowns of key functions. Most teams are simply understaffed and are operating in some cases with only half of the headcount they had prior. Workloads have increased despite promises to “take a step back”. There is no incentive for hard work. Semi-annual reviews are pageantry since the maximum raise is 3%! Which is no where close to keeping pace with inflation, led alone “fair market adjustments” that HR loves to tout. There are also no real advancement opportunities in several departments, leaving many employees stuck in dead end positions. Most internal roles are posted with someone in mind or filled by an external candidate. Very difficult to change departments. Promotions are used as carrots on sticks by management. Generous PTO?! 20 days sounds good on paper, but good luck getting a request approved when only one team member can be off on a given day. Want to see your family this holiday season? Shucks, looks like your coworker already requested those days off, better luck next year! Autonomy has been replaced by micromanagement as upper management leans on middle management to squeeze every ounce of productivity out of the Pioneers at the bottom. Constant pinging in slack across multiple channels throughout the day. No room in budget for incentives or morale boosting activities.
