Pros

High profile marketing, work for Disney, Netflix, Lionsgate, STX, sometimes you get to make a trailer, exposure to color, sound and graphics and conform processes

Cons

WHERE DO I START? This used to be an editor owned company. When you had problems, you could literally take it to the owners and they understood the issue and would help pivot. The founder/owners "retired" and sold it in Jan 2020ish to an investment/venture capital firm and the parent company was renamed "Streamland Media". Picturehead is now merely a profit center to be milked to buy up/prop up failing post houses that are being stuck to the shell of Streamland so the venture capital firm can get their money back when they do a package sale to the next sucker. I was working 14+ hr days DURING THE PANDEMIC, AT THE OFFICE, IN HOLLYWOOD. Some days I didn't even leave. Some teams were allowed to stay safely at home. Some editors were kept on full time. Others were let go and brought back as freelance and jerked around. Operations communicated poorly throughout this situation. You can flag management all day, and your needs will not be taken care of so long as they're making a profit. Multiple of us left July-August 2021 because we're over it. The team that is still there is exhausted and looking for work elsewhere asap. One more zoom meeting with 500 people none of us know to announce how you've spent our human capital on another failing company isn't a morale boost.

Pros

Small enough to not have red tape of a behemoth corporation. Nice facility. generally great people. Work from home available, strange rule only applies to people who aren't "in".

Cons

Who's making decisions here? Many odd directives and choices, that conflict with current workflows. Very much a clique based org. If you're in good with the top, you have a job, even if you're entirely incompetent at what you're tasked with doing. Top notch experienced individuals are let go for "unknown" reasons, meanwhile, several lost, incompetent individuals keep jobs, Co. places value on schmoozing the top people, rather than the work being done. Places more respect with outside individuals coming in as directed by the parent company Streamland media, than on their own employees.
