Pros

Philips program and project managers use a structured approach to PM. PMI methodologies, Lean Agile, SAFe, Six Sigma and SIM (System Implementation Methodology) were all used in the stagegating process. People really care about their work and in the teams they cooperate with the team objectives. They use consensual decision making and risk measures for compliance guidance to projects. I really loved my time at Philips. The projects were very challenging and complex, and I travelled internationally to implement systems all over the globe. There was a tremendous amount of trust and automony if you are competent in your role. I really enjoyed making a difference. The caliber of employees and respect made me stay a long time. My initial manager, was awesome, competent and really knew quality assurance and quality management. I learned a lot from her.

Cons

Corporate restructuring in the Quality and IT spaces over the years caused alot of unnecessary change. Outsourcing of IT to India was excessive and made projects take longer IMHO. Managers changed and you were moved to other depts. if you were good too. Sometimes with little input.

Pros

The people in non- upper management roles that work there are fantastic. Great sense of community onsite and the culture champions are consistently looking for ways to make work life better.

Cons

Very poor communication on the strategy for the business unit. Leadership publicly promotes innovation and new ideas to be presented but then those ideas are shot down or penalized in private by current upper management. The business unit leadership says that don't want excuses for project delays but will then decide to do 3 major layoffs in the first two quarters with no transition plan, no support for gap in resources and no expectations to delayed progress.
