Pros

Fellow coworkers, straightforward work, many places nearby to go for lunch, people bringing in their pets, nice customers/regulars, public transport nearby.

Cons

Management played favourites and were usually apathetic to employee’s struggles, not a lot of room to grow, rude/entitled customers, antisocial behaviour, bad hours, bad work-life balance.

Pros

Regular interaction with animals, which makes the work enjoyable for animal lovers. Most customers are friendly and pleasant to deal with. Shifts are generally flexible, allowing for a good work-life balance. The team is generally friendly and easy to get along with. A Christmas bonus is provided, which is a nice extra. The job tasks are straightforward and not overly demanding. Pay is fair for the role. Extra pay is provided for Sunday shifts. Management tend to know staff personally, which creates a more familiar atmosphere. Training provided is solid and helps you feel confident in the role.

Cons

Some customers can be rude or disrespectful, Particularly when staff are unable to answer every question on the spot. There appears to be clear favouritism towards certain employees, leading to unequal treatment and opportunities. The shop environment is often damp and poorly maintained, which can make working conditions uncomfortable. Employee wellbeing does not seem to be a priority, with little support offered during busy or stressful periods. Younger or newer employees are sometimes treated with less respect, Both by management and more senior staff.
