Pros

You get to meet interesting people and customers if you work on the casino floor. Some older employees are very nice and awesome people.

Cons

If you are a person with integrity and strong work ethic, this job will break your heart. Peppermill does not pay workers enough to survive on. If you are in a home where a spouse or numerous people are all working, then the pay here is do-able. But if you are single and this is your only source of income, forget it. Some workers here have two or even three jobs to get by. Yet in this job I handled nearly a MILLION dollars cash EVERY... SINGLE... DAY... Talk about depressing! There are tons of people issues and unnecessary drama at Peppermill Reno. People with narcissistic personalities and power trips will make your job hell. I was continually picked on and hazed the entire time I was new and learning. There was so much stupid talk and drama, it felt like high school all over again. People were very clique-ish here. Many security guards working night shift are very young, immature, and horrible at their jobs. Some employees engage in inappropriate conversations on the casino floor within earshot of customers. This is very unprofessional and yet if you point it out, they will pick on you even more, and the hazing and shunning will increase. This job was very hard on my hands. I have repetitive motion injury due to my prior career. I made this disability clear on my application and during the hiring process. Yet I was constantly treated like I was simply weak, and coworkers would make offhanded comments that I just needed to get stronger. It was very hurtful to be treated like a weakling instead of someone with a real disability. Many slot machine locks are not repaired adequately by slot technicians, and my coworkers expected me to simply punch or beat on the machines in order to get the doors open. I would be talked down to if I made sensible suggestions on how to actually repair the mechanisms. So beware of taking this job if you have carpal tunnel, tendonitis, arthritis, or any similar issues with your hands or wrists. The "free meal" provided to employees is also horrible. It is nothing like the food the paying customers get, so don't let that fool you if you are considering a Peppermill job because they throw "free meal" into the job announcement. It is like eating at a B-grade cafeteria at best. Some food is leftover from the buffet several days before. Many workers complain about the food giving them various digestive issues. Stupid motivational posters in employee hallways do nothing to make anyone feel better about working here. I was the SIXTH person hired into the position I had, within one year. Manager was weak and would do nothing to reprimand the employees that are driving new ones away. I had to quit to preserve my own sanity.

Pros

In the IT department if you are not growing it is by choice. Lots of growth opportunity.

Cons

Miscommunication. This is a company issue, not so much department. Since the company is successful, the common phrase is "it's always worked this way". However, cutting edge is the ability to continue to grow.
