Pros
Penn State is a very large school, so there is a ton of opportunity for research and funding. For the most part, any class you have interest in is going to be offered, even if it may not be exactly in your department. Most of the professors I have interacted with are very nice and helpful.
Cons
Like all universities, it is very research driven, often at the expense of teaching quality. That is not to say that the professors are poor instructors, it is just quite apparent that research is the first priority.
