Pros
I really enjoy the collaborative culture. Teams bring different perspectives, and there’s a genuine willingness to work cross-functionally to solve problems. It doesn’t feel siloed. Also, the mission is something I can stand behind. Making government payments easier for residents is meaningful work, and it’s motivating to see how the product impacts real communities. I also believe in the product and the company's direction, which makes it easier to stay engaged and do your best work.
Cons
When I first started, there weren’t many documented processes, and some knowledge lived with individuals who were no longer at the company. That made onboarding more challenging and required learning through conversations rather than clear documentation. At the same time, it created an opportunity to build and improve processes myself, which gave me a strong sense of ownership and impact. That said, this is improving as the company continues to grow and formalize processes.
